Ghost Tales

For those who dare to know more...

In a gloomy night, on your way back home, you walk by a Graveyard. The air is dense and the wind cuts through your skin - sharp as knife.

A storm approaches. Getting home will have to wait.

As you seek for shelter, the Graveyard seems unexpectedly inviting and - without thinking too much about it - you cross the gates.

As you're walking through the graves, looking for somewhere to hide, you hear a noise in the distance. You freeze. The time to find shelter is now.

After running a little deeper into this silent city, you find the grave keeper's watch house and invite yourself in through the unlocked door in the back. You're finally safe... or so you thought.

You hear another noise. This time around, closer than before.

Filled with curiosity, you peak through the window and cannot believe what you are just witnessing: Ghosts. Six of them, precisely speaking.

At first, goosebumps take over your body and you feel as if you were about to pass out. However, your frozen body keeps on looking, only to notice the Ghosts are playing music. You cannot help but become hypnotized with the situation and come to learn about this band - Graveyard Ghosts - dated back to the year of 2023.

You listen to their haunting sound until you fall asleep. The next day, you're awaken by the grave keeper telling you to leave. And so you do.

Although the sun is out, the experience you had the night before continuously rings into your mind...

Meet Mayhem

Founder | Lead Singer

Maya Hildebrand was born and grew up in the quiet town of Marechal Cândido Rondon: a small place in one of the southernmost states of Brazil. Her hometown reminds her of childhood adventures, lifelong friendships, and the warmth of family. Later on, she moved to Curitiba to live with her dad. With its green spaces and historic architecture, the city had its charm, though its people felt colder than she was used to. Still, she found her place, especially during college while earning her bachelor’s degree in teaching Portuguese and English.

Music has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. She was singing before she could talk, and by four years old, she was already performing solo at school. Despite battling stage fright, she always found herself stepping up to sing whenever she could. At 13, she started vocal lessons, along with guitar lessons, drawn in by the energy of rock music. Later, she picked up some piano while studying Basic Musicianship in Vancouver and now plays bass for Misty Raine. Bass feels like fun to her - less complicated than guitar, easier to sink into the groove. Drums, on the other hand? She can barely hold two bars together, but she’d love to learn more in the future.

Above all, her instrument is her voice. What she loves most about singing is that it’s always with her - no need for cables or cases, just the ability to express something real whenever and wherever she wants.

Her taste in music has become more eclectic over time. Lately, she’s been into Billie Eilish and the intricate sound of corridos tumbados. But at her core, she’s an indie rock, emo, and pop-punk kid through and through. My Chemical Romance, Arctic Monkeys, and Panic! At The Disco shaped her in different ways - MCR’s with its raw lyricism, Arctic Monkeys’ with its evolving sound and Panic! At The Disco's with its theatrical storytelling. Bands like Pierce The Veil, Cage The Elephant, and Mother Mother also hold a special place in her heart. More than anything, she loves the way music connects people. The friendships, the memories, the feeling of belonging - it’s what she’s always chased, and what ultimately inspired her to start a band of her own.

Looking back, music was always in the picture, even when she wasn’t sure where life would take her. As a child, she thought about becoming a doctor, an architect, a biologist - but music was the only dream that never faded. As a teenager, it was her refuge, her way of making sense of the world. Listening to her favorite bands made her feel understood, and she wanted to create that same connection through her own music. But not alone. She wanted a family. People who felt the same way.

Now, she has that with Graveyard Ghosts. The best part? Seeing her bandmates bring their own passion and talent into something they’re building together. No matter how different they are, they share the same desire and drive. She knows it’s not easy - six people, different schedules, tight budgets. Holding it all together is tough. But as Terry McBride, CEO of Nettwerk Music Group, recently told her: "Suck it up and do it". So that’s exactly what they plan to do.

Outside of music, she loves anything that feeds her creativity - writing, painting, dancing, photography. Anything that brings a new perspective, that makes life feel a little more colorful.

And to those who find themselves in Graveyard Ghosts’ music, she would love to let them know that they are more than welcome to stay. It'll be immensely appreciated and she will be forever grateful!

Meet Yasca

Drummer | Producer

Fausto Figueroa started his journey into music in 2017 with drums, later expanding into guitar, bass, and piano. At first, he aimed to create something inspired by MGMT and Tame Impala, but when he moved to Vancouver, things shifted. He originally planned to be a guitarist, but when Graveyard Ghosts needed a drummer, he stepped up - even if he was a little rusty at first.

Born in Chiapas and raised in Tuxtla Gutiérrez until he was ten, music was always in the background of his childhood. His parents weren’t musicians, but they made sure their crib shop was always filled with music - 80s rock, classic Queen, and traditional Mexican songs. Over time, he grew to appreciate the depth of Latin composition, especially the raw emotion, intricate rhythms and layered melodies in Mexican music. Lately, he’s been diving into Brazilian sounds, drawn to their melodic writing style.

For Fausto, music is more than just sound - it’s a ritual. His biggest inspiration, The Doors, showed him how music can carry intensity without relying on distortion, shaping the way he approaches his own sound. Jim Morrison, in particular, stood out to him - not just for his music, but for how he transformed on stage, becoming something larger than life. That idea stuck with Fausto and even influenced his choice of artistic name, tying it into the idea of music as a kind of shamanistic experience.

Before Graveyard Ghosts, he tried to start bands back in Mexico, but nothing ever took off. That’s what pushed him into music engineering - he figured if no one else was going to make music with him, he’d do it alone. But over time, he realized something was missing. Music isn’t just about playing - it’s about people, connection, the energy of creating something together. That’s why recording TRAUMATHERAPY live as a band was so important to him - it captured that raw, real feeling of musicians playing in the same space, having fun and connecting to each other.

Outside of music, Fausto is deep into politics, always looking to stay informed. He’s also into painting, drawing and other crafts, hoping to spend more time working with his hands.

As for the fans? He’s got more questions than answers. Where are they? What got them into the band? What do they connect with the most? Either way, he’s grateful for the ones who listen and promises there’s more to come.

Meet Whisper

Keytar Player

Jack Peters was born and raised in Vancouver. Unlike most, he actually loves the city's unpredictable weather. The mist, the rain, the occasional burst of sunshine - it all feels like home to him, like a rhythm that never stays the same but always makes sense in its own way. There’s something about the shifting skies that mirrors his own creative process - always evolving, never stagnant.

Music has always been in Jack’s life, thanks to the people around him. He grew up surrounded by musical people, each one leaving a mark on his journey, pulling him deeper into the world of sound. Keytar might be his main weapon of choice, but he’s always exploring - dabbling in guitar, bass, even vocals. The more instruments he picks up, the more ways he finds to express himself.

Right now, he’s drawn to the haunting, cinematic soundscapes of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble. Their fusion of jazz, electronic, and ambient elements feels like stepping into a dream - eerie, hypnotic, enchanting. Their music is the kind that lingers, shifting between beauty and unease, and that love for experimentation fuels his own approach to music.

Being in a band? For him, it is everything. The collaboration, the energy, the growth - it’s all worth it. There’s something irreplaceable about making music with people who share the same fire. But like anything worth chasing, it comes with its struggles such as time, money, the endless balancing act of keeping the dream alive. But there’s no alternative. Music is what he’s meant to do, no matter how hard the road gets.

Outside of music, Jack is a collector of hobbies. Woodworking, miniatures, painting, Dungeons & Dragons, hiking, swimming, urban exploring - the list never stops growing. If it sparks curiosity, he’s in. There’s something about working with his creativity, devising something tangible, that gives him the same rush as making music.

For those who find themselves in Graveyard Ghosts’ music, he has one thing to say: don’t just think your emotions - really do live them. Early on, he bottled everything up, letting anxiety turn his first performances into a blur. He wasn’t scared, but he wasn’t fully there either. Now, he knows better. Feel the moment. Even if it’s messy, even if it hurts. Even if you cry a little - or a lot. It’s worth it.

Meet Doom

Bassist | Backing Vocalist

Misty Raine was born in Vanderhoof, British Columbia, and grew up just outside Fraser Lake in Nadleh Whut'en, a small reserve surrounded by dense forests, rolling hills, and shimmering lakes. The region is steeped in musical tradition - where singing and drumming aren’t just pastimes, but a way of life. It was there, among the tight-knit community and the rhythm of ancestral songs, that her deep connection to music first took root.

While her hometown gave her strong roots, Vancouver gave her wings. The endless flow of new faces, conversations, and connections keeps her inspired in ways she never experienced back home. Music has always been central to her life, and now, in a city pulsing with creative energy, she’s able to fully immerse herself in it.

In Graveyard Ghosts, Misty holds down the low end as the bassist, but her role extends beyond that. She’s also a backing vocalist, layering harmonies and bringing depth to the band’s sound. Outside of bass and singing, she dabbles in guitar and piano - always looking for different ways to express herself musically.

Her taste in music is as eclectic as her style, driven by whatever "catches a vibe". She’s drawn to grunge and the unapologetic energy of early 2000s rock, or, as she puts it, "divorced-dad-rock". Avril Lavigne holds the top spot in her rotation - if she’s listening to music that day, you can bet Avril is in the mix. System of a Down, Nirvana, and Nickelback also shape her musical DNA, feeding into the nostalgia and raw emotion that fuels her creativity.

Misty’s path to music was paved by family. Her grandparents - especially her grandfather - played a key role in shaping her passion, but beyond that, she’s always loved the thrill of performance: the attention, the energy, the way a song can pull people in and make them feel something real.

For Misty, being in a band is a constant balance of highs and lows. At times, it’s chaotic, especially the managing part of it all - scheduling, social media, juggling day jobs and rehearsals... but the good moments always outweigh the hard ones. Creating music with people who share that same fire is what makes it all worth it. For Misty, music is everything, and having a space to turn emotions into something tangible, something that resonates with others, is what keeps her going.

Outside of music, fashion is her main hobby. She’s always been drawn to self-expression through style - designing her own clothes, putting together bold looks, customizing and creating pieces with an alternative edge. She used to paint, do arts and crafts and sew more frequently, but when she moved to Vancouver, she made a promise to herself: music first. It’s not just a passion - it’s the full-time job that never leaves her mind.

And to those who take the time to listen, follow, and support Graveyard Ghosts - Misty is endlessly grateful. Every track, every show, every post comes from a place of hard work and dedication. So if you find yourself vibing with their music, show some love. Support local bands. It makes all the difference.

Meet Vengeance

Guitarist | Backing Vocalist

Kenny Jacob has always been drawn to music like a moth to a flame. Born and raised in Vancouver, he sees the city as more than just home - it’s woven into who he is. The energy, the people, the endless places to get lost in - it all feeds into his music.

Though most know Kenny as the guitarist of Graveyard Ghosts, his musical journey actually started behind a drum kit. Drumming was his first love, and even now, he still considers himself a drummer at heart. But his musical reach doesn’t stop there. He also plays piano, bass, and even sings on occasion, always pushing his creative limits.

His influences span across indie rock, alt-rock, post-punk, and indie pop, but lately, he’s been especially drawn to Muse - especially their album Origin of Symmetry. The way they fuse rock and classical elements resonates deeply with him, shaping the way he approaches songwriting.

Music has been a part of Kenny’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up, it was always there, in the car, at home, at school. But it was during a high school music class that everything clicked - this wasn’t just a hobby, it was something bigger. The rush of performing, the connection with the audience, the way music brings people together - it’s what keeps him going.

Playing in a band with his best friends only makes it better. The chemistry within Graveyard Ghosts is something special, something rare. But Kenny knows the reality of being in a band - it's not all stage lights and applause. Breaking through is a long, relentless climb, but he believes that as long as they keep pushing forward, they’ll build something worth remembering.

Outside of music, Kenny is a massive fan of superheroes and comics - Batman and Spider-Man, in particular. He’s also a die-hard Liverpool FC supporter, something that was pretty much decided for him at birth. And when he’s not making music or watching a match, he’s probably gaming, losing himself in new worlds and stories.

For those who support Graveyard Ghosts, Kenny is endlessly grateful. To aspiring musicians, his advice is simple - keep playing, have fun, and never lose sight of why you love music in the first place. Because in the end, no matter the struggles, music is always worth it.

Meet Shriek

Pianist

Jack Biscaro was born in New Westminster, a city where the Fraser River carves through a landscape of old-fashioned streets and modern skylines. But it was in Coquitlam where he truly grew up, surrounded by endless greenery, winding trails, and towering mountains that always felt like a whole new world to be discovered. He’s lived there all his life, drawn to its mix of city life and nature, where there’s always something to explore.

Music has always been part of his life, and his instrument of choice is the piano - though to say he only plays one thing would be an understatement. He’ll pick up anything that makes a sound, just to see what he can create with it.

Jack listens to everything, really, but lately, his ears have been tuned to jazz, R&B, and soul. From the timeless grooves of The Spinners and Marvin Gaye to the intricate brilliance of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, and Oscar Peterson, he’s been diving deep into the classics without losing sight of the ever-changing music scene. To him, music is a language, and he’s always looking for ways to expand his vocabulary.

To him, being in a band is equal parts passion and responsibility. It’s one thing to play music for fun, but if you want to make a living out of it, there’s no way around the hard work. The performances, the rehearsals, the endless preparation - it all demands focus. Balancing everything in life isn’t easy, and the fear of failure is always lurking, but the most important thing is to keep going, show up, and have fun in the process.

Outside of music, Jack likes anything that can enhance the human experience. He works out, plays baseball, basketball, volleyball, hikes, swims, bikes - if it involves movement, he’s in. He's also into activities such as painting, picnicking, and anything that can enrich his time. Other than that, he is still attending university classes and also likes to study human behavior, always chasing new knowledge - whether it’s history, philosophy, or just something that adds meaning to life. There’s no one path, and he’s set on walking as many as he can.

To those who listen, support, and connect with Graveyard Ghosts, he has one thing to say: thank you so much. And to anyone chasing their passions - make it work for you. Growth isn’t instant. It’s a process, a collection of days, struggles, and small victories. Nobody has it all figured out, but if you take it step by step, find your balance, and keep pushing forward, that’s what really matters.

A Bond Beyond Life

In 2023, Maya arrived in Vancouver with a singular mission: to bring Graveyard Ghosts to life. The name was chosen, the vision was clear, and the album TRAUMATHERAPY was already written - seven songs waiting for a band to shape them into something real. All she needed was the right people.

She figured the best place to find musicians was where music thrived, so she enrolled in the Basic Musicianship Program at Douglas College. In a room full of strangers bound by a love for music, she had one goal: find her band. For her, approaching people with a request to join the band felt unnatural, but there was something she had always been good at: making connections - so she went for that instead.

That’s how she met Misty, Kenny, Fausto, and both Jacks. Before they became bandmates, they became friends. Over time, the idea of Graveyard Ghosts turned into something tangible. With each rehearsal, each jam session, the puzzle pieces began to fit. After a few shifts and adjustments, the band took form: Maya, driven by her need to create and voice her emotions; Misty, fueled by the thrill of the stage; Fausto, seeking the ritualistic power of music; Kenny, chasing connection and fun; and Jack Peters, seeking expression and growth. Jack Biscaro, already a close friend to the band, officially joined in mid-2024, bringing his passion and musical knowledge into the fold.

Being in a band is a rollercoaster-like experience - a chaotic, thrilling ride of highs and lows. But every setback only strengthens them. Six different people, from different places, with different cultures and stories, all bound together by music. No matter how different their paths were, they found a home in each other.

Though the journey started somewhat rough, they’ve encountered a better balance, and now there’s only one way forward - louder, bolder, unstoppable. More shows, more music, more interactions. Whatever it takes, Graveyard Ghosts is just getting started.

Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.
